Adam Bolotin is an aggressive criminal defense attorney who dedicates his life to zealously defending the rights of those charged with serious criminal offenses. Mr. Bolotin takes immense personal pride in standing up to district attorneys, federal prosecutors, police officers, or anyone who comes between his clients and their freedom. After graduating Valedictorian from University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, Mr. Bolotin immediately began his career as a criminal defense attorney. Mr. Bolotin’s practice has always focused on defending serious felonies charged in state and federal courts throughout the country including murder, drug conspiracies, gun offenses, sex crimes, and other violent felonies.
Mr. Bolotin handles all aspects of defending criminal prosecutions from pre-trial motions to suppress, to trial, and if necessary, sentencing and appeals. Mr. Bolotin’s zealous advocacy and aggressive defense strategies have secured dismissals, the suppression of incriminating evidence, not guilty verdicts, and convinced seasoned prosecutors to offer favorable plea agreements for countless clients.
Notably, Mr. Bolotin worked on the defense team that secured a not guilty verdict for a client accused of being the trigger man in a triple homicide. Mr. Bolotin filed a motion to suppress nearly 7 million dollars worth of cocaine that convinced the prosecution to dismiss all charges without holding a hearing. Mr. Bolotin secured a sentence of one day time considered served for a client who pleaded guilty to participating in nearly a 1 million dollar mortgage fraud scheme. Mr. Bolotin has also successfully argued to United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit that trial courts must hold hearings to determine the reliability of “ShotSpotter” technology before admitting it in trial.
Mr. Bolotin is regarded as a highly respected expert in criminal law. Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers consistently recognizes Mr. Bolotin as a Rising Star, an honor given to the top 2.5% of attorneys in the state. Numerous publications, including the Champion -the nationwide journal for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, have published articles authored by Mr. Bolotin discussing pressing criminal law issues including Sixth Amendment rights, federal sentencing reductions under First Step Act, Fourth Amendment Seizures in the context of Concealed Carry laws, and the admissibility of ShotSpotter under the Federal Rules of Evidence.
Mr. Bolotin is admitted to practice law in the states of New York and Illinois and before several federal trial and appellate courts, including the Northern District of Illinois prestigious Trial Bar and the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Mr. Bolotin is an active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York and Illinois State Bar Associations, the Federal Bar Association, and serves as a Critical Response Attorney for United States Concealed Carry Association members.
Before going into private practice, Mr. Bolotin secured prestigious externships with two federal judges in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. While attending University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, Mr. Bolotin won a National Closing Argument Competition held at Harvard Law School. He was published by The John Marshall Law Review and served on both the Law Review’s Editorial and Moot Court’s Honors Boards. Before attending law school, Mr. Bolotin received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island where he graduated summa cum laude and played four years of NCAA Division III Ice Hockey.
